The Driving Female Force In Real Estate

26 May 2023

This week we’re shining a light on the women in real estate who are breaking the mould and paving the way for future generations. Congratulations to our Paddington specialist Catherine Dixon who continues to perform as one of the top agents in the country, ranking 10th in this year’s REB Top 50 Women in Real Estate in Australia.

Catherine says, “Women in real estate have been up against their male counterparts for decades but the reality is female agents have been proved to be an invaluable asset in the growth story of the property sector. It’s rather an old-school perspective to think that aggressive negotiation tactics are fundamental to a successful sale as, in my experience, its women in families or couples who are the driving force making decisions in our favour. There’s a real void to be filled by female agents as today’s buyers don’t appreciate the hard sell but gravitate to those who take a more holistic approach and consider all factors that are crucial to purchasing a home. That’s taking in both practical and lifestyle factors such as commuting times and proximity to schools and family. Female agents are powerful empathisers and attuned listeners, and their strength lies in building strong relationships while keeping a real-time pulse on the changing face of real estate.”

Another big shout out goes to the invincible Pru Kelly, winner of the prestigious REINSW Operational Support award for 2022 and finalist in the REIA Awards 2023. Not only is Pru a vital force in Alexander Phillips’ team with her multi-tasking superpowers, but she plays an active role in mentoring staff by elevating and empowering team members to perform with equality and integrity.

Our property management team is also making great strides for women in real estate with Rachael Beadman, Head of PM, and Katrina Borg, New Business Executive, leading the busiest team in the east. Their achievements in growing the management portfolio have been nothing short of inspirational and we congratulate all the wonderful women at PPD who make the agency such a phenomenal success.

In honour of our female prowess, here’s a choice of three great properties with female leads!

Surrounded by nature between Five Ways and Trumper Park, Catherine’s listing at 1 Sutherland Avenue, Paddington stands in a class of its own. Bathed in northerly sunshine on a dual access block, four-bedroom home has been conceived as a designer sanctuary that’s reassuringly close to the action.Debbie Donnelley has a fantastic family home at 5 Kemmis Street, Randwick which is set on a dual access block just around the corner from Frenchmans Road’s village hub with great schools all around and within easy reach of Queens Park and Bronte Beach. Doreen Wilson and Emma Louise Potter’s listing at 2/5 Hardiman Avenue, Randwick is a semi-like ground floor Art Deco apartment with direct access to a lush common garden making it a perfect choice for the young family just 300m to The Spot’s dining precinct and the landmark Ritz Cinemas.

This week the sales team secured 15 sales with an average price of $3.9m and listed 14 new properties and the management team secure 14 tenancies and listed 8 new properties for lease.
