The Bronte house that sold for $11m a year ago has just sold again for even more money — above $11.5m. And the deal was done in just six days through Phillips Pantzer Donnelley’s Alexander Phillips.
Cygnet Capital chief Darien Jagger and his wife Katie have done nothing to the luxurious five-bedroom, five-bathroom designer home at 18 St Thomas St that they bought on May 7 last year through Mr Phillips. Having moved to Sydney from Perth, they’ve now decided the beach isn’t for them. So the Jaggers listed the home again with Mr Phillips, in conjunction with Ballard Property.
This afternoon, Mr Phillips, with his colleague David Tyrell, sold it to a family upgrading from Maroubra. It’s understood they had two buyers fighting over it. And the Jaggers are now looking for a harbourfront home in Vaucluse. The St Thomas St home, known as Gres De La Mer, was designed by Tanner Kibble Denton Architects. It had previously been the home of ASX general manager Grant Lovett and his wife Cheryl O’Neill.
Mr Lovett, who was the ex chief-of-staff for Joe Hockey, bought the property for $4.1 million in 2009 and commissioned the new four-level residence. The home had first been listed in August 2017 at $15m, but failed to find a buyer. Mr Phillips was the fourth agent on it. Mr Phillips believes we’re now at the bottom of the market. “It certainly feels like it … a few months ago I thought we had six to 12 months to go,” he said. “But this sale is a good post-election indicator.”
